The purpose of a Norton Dressing Stick is to remove some of the wheel bond materials clogging the wheel so as to expose the cutting edge of the abrasive particles. Dressing often keeps cutting tools cool and sharp and does not noticeably shorten wheel life. Dressing is done by cutting into the stick. Grinding wheels, diamond core drills and other tools can be dressed in a similar manor. An abundant supply of coolant should be used when dressing tools.
